Manchester United have a lot of areas on the pitch that need reinforcements ahead of the new season. Among the many issues that the current squad have, one position that they need to sign is a new goalkeeper.
The Red Devils have Andre Onana as the first-choice goalkeeper with Altay Bayindir as his deputy. The former has had a horrific two seasons at the English club, and the latter has struggled to get any meaningful game time so far.

Onana’s performances for the past couple of seasons have been mistake-ridden.
The Cameroonian international did not seem to have the full confidence of Ruben Amorim and was left out of the matchday squad on a couple of occasions.
Manchester United want Emi Martinez
Now, as per The Mail, Manchester United are preparing a new bid to sign talented Aston Villa shot-stopper Emiliano Martinez.
The £150,000 a week star looks set to leave the PL club this summer and his next destination could be Old Trafford.
The Red Devils have already made a loan bid to sign the 32-year-old World Cup winner which was rejected. Onana is currently recovering from a torn hamstring and Man Utd need to find a quality option inbetween post.
Villa values Emi Martinez at around £40million, and it remains to be seen if Manchester United are willing to match that figure to sign the charismatic goalkeeper. The Lions’ shot-stopper is definitely worth the £40m price tag.
An aura and the command over the backline
What Emi Martinez will be able to add to Manchester United that Onana struggled with is the ability to command the backline.
The 32-year-old has an aura about him and has the presence to scare opposition attackers.
Interestingly, should Man Utd sign Martinez, he will not be available for the opening game of the Premier League, due to the red card he was punished with during the final game of the season at Old Trafford.
Let’s wait and see if the Red Devils sign the second Martinez of the squad in the coming days.
