In the past few seasons, Manchester United have struggled on the pitch and the results have been very poor. Under Erik ten Hag and later Ruben Amorim, it is fair to say that the club has experienced a big decline in recent months.
This trend is also seen in the goalkeeping position. From having David de Gea in between the posts who guarded the Old Trafford posts like a man possessed, they went to Andre Onana who has struggled to adapt Premier League.

The Cameroonian international has made so many mistakes over the course of two seasons that it is almost impossible to keep track. Thus, making a reinforcement this summer in this position might be very important.
Now, as per Goal Brasil, Brazilian club Botafogo are expecting an offer to arrive soon from Manchester United for their 29-year-old goalkeeper John Victor. The player has been on the English club’s radar for some time now.
The experienced goalkeeper grabbed eyeballs with his performances in the Club World Cup. The tournament propelled John Victor to the spotlight and he could fit Manchester United’s need for a new goalkeeper.
John Victor is not a ceiling-raiser
While the 29-year-old definitely would be a decent option to reinforce the goalkeeping position at Man Utd, he is not a ceiling-raiser and would not be a guaranteed upgrade over the current options at the English clubs.
What Man Utd need right now is a goalkeeper who can come in and command the backline. They need someone like Emiliano Martinez who would be an assured upgrade and provide confidence to the defence in front of him.
It remains to be seen if Manchester United make an attempt to sign John Victor in the coming days. With Onana injured, the Red Devils might be forced to sign a new goalkeeper this summer and let’s wait and see how it plays out.
