Report – Man Utd willing to agree fee set to secure key signing

John Victor

Manchester United have had dependable shot-stoppers inbetween the posts at Old Trafford for much of their storied history but ever since David de Gea left the club and was replaced by Andre Onana, this has not been the case.

The ex-Ajax man came to England after an excellent season with Inter Milan in Italy, where his heroics helped guide the club to the Champions League final. They eventually lost to Manchester City but Onana had done enough to catch the eye.

They eventually lost to Manchester City but Onana had done enough to catch the eye.

Man Utd wasted no time in bringing him to the club and rather unceremoniously let David de Gea leave to make place for the Cameroonian.

It is fair to say that this one decision has aged very badly from the Red Devils’ perspective.

Replacing Andre Onana could be a realistic possibility this summer and as per Goal Brasil, Man Utd are willing to agree to Botafogo shot-stopper John Victor’s release clause worth around $8million to bring him to Old Trafford.

The Brazilian club have already been looking for a potential replacement for their goalkeeper, anticipating his move to Man Utd.

John made a name for himself with his brilliant displays in the recently concluded Club World Cup.

John Victor grabbed eyeballs!

John conceded just three goals and also managed to keep a clean sheet, making a number of eye-catching saves.

With the 29-year-old giving a great account of himself when all the eyeballs were watching, it looks like Man Utd have jumped on the bandwagon.

One major concern with this potential signing though would be the Botafogo keeper’s age.

At 29, he is no spring chicken, although goalkeepers tend to peak much late into their 30s and this is a signing that could go either way.

Ultimately, it could come down to what the future holds for Andre Onana.

His recent injury is going to make it so much more difficult to sell him this summer, and it will be a huge surprise if Man Utd end up signing a new shot-stopper this summer.
