It has been very evident this summer that Man Utd’s biggest priority is signing a new striker.
The inconsistent form of Rasmus Hojlund in front of goal has made Ruben Amorim understand the need for a player who can score goals regularly and be a focal point upfront.

The Dane is not yet ready to lead the line at Old Trafford.
Many times last season, one of the most glaring issues of Amorim’s Man Utd was their inability to score goals.
With the exception of captain Bruno Fernandes, who was a beacon of consistency in an otherwise ragged team, the Portuguese tactician had no one else to trust.
Thus, it makes sense for the Red Devils to sign a new number nine this summer. Now, as per Caught Offside, Man Utd have made a concrete move to sign talented Eintracht Frankfurt striker Hugo Ekitike after Premier League rivals Newcastle United saw their £70m bid rejected.
The Bundesliga club rate Ekitike as one of the crown jewels of their squad and are demanding £86.7million to part ways with him this summer. Meanwhile, Liverpool have also emerged as a serious contender.
The report mentions that United “have made contact” with Ekitike and his representatives, exploring a player-plus-cash offer ahead of a summer move, demonstrating clear intent from Amorim’s side.
The 23-year-old French striker scored an impressive 22 goals and provided 12 assists in 48 games last season across all competitions, earning Bundesliga Team of the Season honours and sparking widespread interest.
Ekitike offers pace, physicality, and finishing: qualities United desperately need to reinforce the front line.
His Bundesliga form and age align with Man Utd’s long-term project and despite the hefty price that Frankfurt are charging, this could turn out to be an excellent signing in the long run.
That said, Ekitike might prefer to move to Liverpool or Newcastle United over Man Utd, considering they have Champions League football to offer him this season.
The Frenchman has come a long way since his PSG days and he could prove to be an excellent acquisition this summer. Let’s wait and see how Christopher Vivell & co. go about the same.
