BBC now confirm Man Utd in talks with agents to sign £60.5million man – Report

Chelsea Nicolas Jackson

Manchester United know for a fact that they still have a lot of work to do with the squad to give Ruben Amorim a competitive roster this summer.

The Red Devils have managed to sign Matheus Cunha and Bryan Mbeumo from Wolves and Brentford respectively and have also sorted out the exit of Marcus Rashford.

The English attacker will be joining Barcelona on a season-long loan and the Spanish club also has the option to sign him permanently at the end of the season.

It was a very important exit for Man Utd to sort out, considering Rashford was one of the highest earners at Man Utd.

More such exits could help Man Utd make more signings this summer and one player the club have been linked with in recent days is Chelsea striker Nicolas Jackson. Valued at around £60.5million, the Blues number nine is expected to be available this summer if someone makes the right offer.

Now, as per BBC journalist Nizaar Kinsella, Manchester United have held talks with Ali Barat, the representative of Nicolas Jackson over a potential move this summer.

There is still a lot of work to be done for the English club but this is a deal that could happen under the right conditions.

Jackson has been at Chelsea for a couple of seasons, joining from Villarreal. He took almost an entire season to adapt to the Premier League but showed signs of promise under Enzo Maresca in the early parts of the 2025/25 season. As it wore on though, the spark fizzled out.

The Senegalese striker possesses a lot of talent and has showcased good development in terms of dropping deep and linking up play.

He has always been very good at making runs in behind the defense and is quite direct in the way he plays. However, one thing that needs improvement is his ball-striking.

The 24-year-old, at this stage of his career, is a mediocre finisher at best. His ability to be clinical in front of goal is missing and this makes him a very inconsistent goalscorer.

This is the last thing that Manchester United need in the number nine that they are signing this summer.

Although Nicolas Jackson brings some PL experience to the table, this is not a signing that Man Utd must consider.

The Red Devils need a proven goalscorer who can finish off chances clinically and the Chelsea forward is not that. Let’s wait and see if sense prevails and the Red Devils drop their interest in the 24-year-old.

  1. In opinion, we should go for a Jackson upgrade, who would be a clinical finisher.
Benjamin Sesko would be a good signing for us. He’s a good goo finisher and his scoring ability could be likened to that Dimitar Berbatov. Signing a forward is not enough, we also need a midfielder and goalkeeper, for us to compete favourably with the likes of Man city, Liverpool, Arsenal and Chelsea in the EPL.
